The Calinog Taekwondo Association (CTA) recently made waves during the Regional Age Group Taekwondo Championships held at the Binirayan Sports Stadium in San Jose, Antique.
After an action-packed tournament, the young and talented jins from Calinog ramped up the medal tally and collected six golds, 11 silvers, and four bronzes.
Mentored by D. Ben L. Capadosa and Sanny Boy Balano, the jins wrapped up the Regional stage with convincing performances in both the poomsae and the kyorugi events.
“Kudos to all our players, trainers, Instructors and parents who give their all-out support and full potential to perform their limitless skills in the field of taekwondo,” said Dr. Capadosa in an exclusive interview with the Daily Guardian.
Clinching the championship medals in the poomsae event are Aizen Bel-ida, Chloe Jhen Lao, and Aliyah Panes.
Meanwhile, in the kyorugi event, Zayne Aldwin Agustin, Panes, and Jeybie Lira stood out the most and delivered the three final gold medals for CTA.
Completing the pool of the silver medalists are Jayselle Carbon, Princess Hurtada, Maria Rielle Jimena, Bel-ida, Dan Edrie Catigan, Clark Kent Andrada, Dave Ezekiell Castronuevo, Jian Lee Pelagio, Don Christian Regis, John Le Aranza, and Lara Lemana.
Last but not the least, the bronze medalists who managed to make the last trip to the podium are Jade Angelie Pelagio, Angelo Javier Estimar, Jimena, and Ysabella Rafols.
“The CTA of Neb 1 Taekwondo Academy is a family-oriented organization. The loving and supportive parents and players are united and determined to showcase their dedication for us to be declared as Team Champion for this recently concluded Regional competition,” added Dr. Capadosa.
The CTA also extended its heartfelt gratitude to Mayor Francisco Calvo, who provided transportation to the whole team from July 18 to July 20, 2025.
