The town of Calinog kicked off its annual fiesta on Sunday, December 1, honoring its patron, the Immaculate Conception, with vibrant celebrations.
Festivities began with a solemn Mass and a grand parade, signaling the start of the week-long event.
This year’s theme, “Birhen Maria: Kaubay Naton Padulong sa Kauswagan” (Virgin Mary: Our Guide Toward Progress), highlights the community’s devotion and aspirations for growth.
Mayor Francisco “Ico” Calvo expressed pride in the festival’s expansion, noting enhancements in its lineup and budget.
“We aim to make our fiesta bigger and better every year. This time, we’ve allocated a larger budget, brought in celebrity guests, and organized daily activities at the plaza and freedom grounds. The highlights will include the coronation night and live band performances,” Calvo said.
He added that opening night alone was expected to draw approximately 50,000 visitors.
Zumba Nation delighted the crowd with special appearances by actress Ina Raymundo and fitness icon Gesille Sanchez. The evening also featured a foam party, a fireworks display, and social media influencer Queen Manica Money, adding to the excitement.
The festival will continue with daily activities, sponsored programs, and community gatherings, culminating on December 8 with the highly anticipated coronation night.
