Caitlin Clark becomes NCAA Division I women’s all-time scoring leader

Caitlin Clark continued to weave her magic in the ongoing NCAA Division I women’s basketball tournament.

Last February 16, 2024, the Iowa superstar made NCAA women’s hoops history after becoming the new all-time scoring leader of the tournament.

With 7:46 remaining in the first quarter of Iowa’s game against Michigan, Clark rewrote NCAA history after converting on a logo three-pointer from the left elbow.

After the three-pointer, Clark officially broke Kelsey Plum’s NCAA women’s record in points after amassing a total of 3,565 points.

Before her game against Michigan, Clark is still sitting at the no. 2 spot with Plum ahead with her 3.527 total points.

Clark not only surpassed Plum’s long-time record but she also propelled Iowa to a dominating 106-89 victory over Michigan.

The sweet-shooting guard continued her rampage all game long and finished the convincing victory with a game-high 49 points, 13 assists, and five rebounds.

“She’s such a special player. I thought it was wonderful that she hit a logo three to put her over. I intended to call a timeout but it happened so fast I couldn’t get it out,” said Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder to HawkFanatic’s Dallas Jones.

Iowa State is currently the third-best NCAA women’s team tied with Ohio State and Stanford with South Carolina taking the top spot with an undefeated record of 23-0.

Last year, Clark and Iowa were close to clinching the NCAA women’s championship but the Louisiana State University (LSU) Tigers led by Angel Reese spoiled their bid after outdueling them in the finals.
