A Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) member was arrested evening of May 24, 2021 in Calinog, Iloilo.
Christopher Castor, 28, a resident of Barangay Siya, Tapaz, Capiz, was accused of indiscriminately firing his gun 9 p.m. of Monday at Barangay Simsiman, Calinog.
Captain Dadje Delima, Calinog police chief, said that Castor is assigned to a CAFGU detachment in Barangay Katipunan, Tapaz, Capiz but is temporarily residing at Simsiman village.
Police responded to the area after receiving reports that someone was indiscriminately firing a gun.
When the team led by Master Sergeant Nilo Cachuela arrived, they caught Castor with a homemade shotgun (pistol type).
The suspect was drunk when the incident happened.
“Wala man siya kaaway. According to barangay officials, pirme daw siya nagapalupok kung hubog,” Delima said.
Castor is now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
