Recognized as a hallmark of Cadiz’s cultural celebration, “Patikanay” captivated audiences with electrifying performances that highlighted the artistry, rhythm, and passion of local tribes.
Derived from the Hiligaynon term patik, which means to beat or tap rhythmically, “Patikanay” symbolizes the vibrant and dynamic spirit of the festival.
This year’s event featured fierce but harmonious competition among tribes from across the city, with the following winners:
- Champion: Tribu Hitalon (Barangays Zone 1 and 6)
- Second Place: Tribu TiBanDa (Barangays Tiglawigan, Banquerohan, and Daga)
- Third Place: Tribu Vil-Gus (Barangays Celestino Villacin and V.F Gustilo), formerly known as Tribu Sewanara
- Fourth Place: Tribu MaJeCa (Barangays Magsaysay, Jerusalem, and Cabahug)
- Fifth Place: Tribu Yabyab Dongol (Barangays Zone 2 and 5)
Special awards were also given to Tribu Hitalon for Best in Presentation and Tribu MaJeCa for Best in Costume.
The event was judged by a panel of esteemed individuals, including Marcelino Labtic Jr., Luis Osmeña Jr., and Louis Dormido, who lauded the creativity, skill, and cultural expression displayed by the participants.
The “Patikanay” continues to embody the festive spirit of Cadiz City, blending tradition, music, and community pride into a truly memorable celebration.
