Cadiz Breaks Ground on 50-Bed Hospital

CADIZ CITY – A 50-bed hospital is set to rise in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, following a groundbreaking ceremony held during the opening of the city’s Golden Dinagsa Festival on Monday, January 20.

The Cadiz City Medical Center (CCMC), a PHP 270 million facility, will be constructed in Barangay Tinampaan.

CCMC will feature a minor operating room, an emergency room, a clinical laboratory, an isolation room, an eight-bed medical ward, a pharmacy, and other essential facilities.

Once completed, it will be the second hospital in Cadiz, complementing the provincial government-run St. Anne’s Hospital.

Construction is expected to be completed within 667 days.

Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. emphasized the importance of the hospital, citing the city’s unprecedented growth and the increasing healthcare needs of its population.

“We need to have this hospital, considering the unprecedented growth of Cadiz. As the city rapidly develops, so does our population. Having CCMC soon is the best move to address the health needs of our people,” Escalante said.

Cadiz will become the third component city in Negros Occidental to have a city-managed hospital, following San Carlos City and Bago City.

Cadiz, San Carlos, and Bago were recently reclassified by the Department of Finance from second-class to first-class component cities in Negros Occidental.

Escalante described CCMC as the “first grand showcase” of Cadiz following its reclassification.

Meanwhile, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson commended Cadiz for taking the initiative to establish its own hospital, underscoring the importance of improving healthcare access in the province.
