The Cabatuan Police Station in Iloilo became the 80th PNP station in Western Visayas to have a standard police building.
Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 director, led the blessing and inauguration of the newly constructed Cabatuan Police Station on Nov 26, 2020.
Colonel Noel Ponsaran, PRO-6 Regional Pastoral Officer, officiated the blessing of the building.
He was also joined in by Ma. Lucila Pereño from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Mayor Ronilo Caspe of Cabatuan; and Colonel Gilbert Gorero, Iloilo police chief.
The two-story, standard-type building has a total lot area of 600 square meters and a total floor area of 288 square meters.
The contract amount of Php 6,884,708.68 was funded by the PNP and DPWH Convergence Program, through the General Appropriation Act of 2020.
The lot where the newly constructed police station stands was donated by the municipal government of Cabatuan.
GGMU Construction and Supply undertook the project, which started on Feb. 21, 2020 and completed on Oct. 16, 2020.
Based on PRO-6 records, several PNP-owned police stations are not deemed compliant with PNP standards.
On the other hand, 51 police stations are still owned by the local government unit or are co-located in LGU-owned building.
Standard PNP station buildings must be attack-resilient. The best feature of this building is its roof deck, where police personnel can observe their immediate vicinity from above.
