ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A Civilian Active Auxiliary member was killed early Sunday morning, March 15, in a shooting at Sitio Katan-agan, Barangay East Villaflores, Maayon, Capiz.
Police identified the victim as alias Kerwin Jay, 28, a CAA member, and the suspect as alias Noriel, a farmer, both residents of Barangay East Villaflores, Maayon, Capiz.
An investigation by the Maayon Municipal Police Station found that the incident happened at about 1:45 a.m. while alias Noriel was sleeping with his live-in partner, identified as alias Aravilla, inside his in-law’s house.
Police said the victim allegedly arrived, forcibly entered the house by destroying the kitchen door, woke the farmer and shot him with a .45-caliber pistol, hitting him in the right shoulder.
Investigators said alias Noriel then managed to grab the firearm and shoot the victim in the head, killing him.
Police recovered from the scene a .45-caliber pistol, seven live rounds of ammunition and three spent cartridges of the same caliber.
Investigators said an old grudge may have been the motive.
