A 34-year-old prospective motorcycle buyer was arrested after he drove the bike without the agent’s consent.
As it turned out, a traffic jam led to the arrest of Michael Vincent Condalor, a resident of Barangay Aganan, Pavia, Iloilo.
Condalor was arrested around 4:20 p.m. on Dec 28 after he failed to get through heavy traffic at Barangay Seminario, Jaro, Iloilo City
According to reports, the suspect transacted with John Paul Eugenio, 21, of Imperial Homes, Barangay Guzman-Jesena, Mandurriao district, for the sale of a Suzuki Satria FU150 motorcycle for P65,000.
After several postponements, the two agreed to meet at the Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral around 4 pm Wednesday.
Eugenio approached Condalor and told the latter that he will conduct a physical checkup and test drive of the motorcycle.
But Eugenio told the suspect that they could not do a test drive because they were inside the church premises.
But instead of a physical check, Condalor hopped on the motorcycle and sped towards the cathedral’s exit gate.
Eugenio immediately ran after the suspect until he caught up with him not far from the exit gate.
Condalor got stuck and failed to penetrate through the heavy traffic on Seminario Street.
A village watchman responded and placed the suspect under citizen’s arrest.
Captain Eduardo Siacon, Iloilo City Police Station 3 chief, said Condalor apparently had no plan of buying the motorcycle.
“He really wanted to cart away the motorcycle because he had no money with him,” he said.
Despite being caught red-handed, Condalor insisted that he only meant to test drive the motorcycle.
