Butcher, Trike Driver Nabbed in PHP612K Drug Bust

BACOLOD CITY – A butcher and a tricycle driver were arrested after PHP612,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized in a buy-bust operation in Purok Cadena de Amor, Barangay Handumanan late Wednesday night.

Operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) apprehended alias “Yin,” a public market butcher, and his 37-year-old companion Ronilo, a tricycle driver, both residents of the same barangay.

Police Lt. Richard Legada, assistant CDEU chief, said Yin was tagged as a high-value individual and was arrested for the first time following recent reports of his alleged drug activity.

Ronilo, identified as a street-level individual, was listed by the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC), Legada added.

Ronilo was previously arrested in 2022 for possession of illegal drugs and was released the following year through a plea bargain.

During the operation, Legada said Ronilo was allegedly caught with illegal drugs and will be charged with possession of dangerous drugs.

Yin will face charges for the sale and possession of dangerous drugs after 90 grams of suspected shabu and PHP1,000 in marked money were recovered from him.
