BACOLOD CITY — A 44-year-old businessman was killed in a motorcycle accident at Sitio Nasunugan, Barangay Batuan, San Enrique, Negros Occidental, on Friday.
The victim, identified as Eman Canencia of Barangay Batuan, died after losing control of his motorcycle and veering into the opposite lane, where he fell into a drainage, according to Police Major Leo Estopa, San Enrique town police chief.
Canencia also struck a 56-year-old man who was fishing in a nearby creek at the time of the incident. Both men sustained injuries, but Canencia later died from his wounds, Estopa said.
The fisherman was taken to a hospital and is now in stable condition, Estopa added.
Authorities believe Canencia had been speeding and noted that he reportedly had a few drinks before heading home from his farm that afternoon.
