Businessman faces two illegal firearms charges in Roxas

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Police filed two counts of illegal possession of firearms Thursday, July 23, against a businessman for allegedly violating Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Police arrested the 48-year-old suspect, identified only as alias John, after allegedly finding two undocumented firearms while serving a search warrant at his residence in Barangay Mongpong, Roxas City.
Authorities recovered a .45-caliber pistol and a .38-caliber revolver, along with a magazine and ammunition.
Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Lorencito Diaz of Branch 17 issued the search warrant dated July 21, 2026.
Republic Act No. 10591 regulates the ownership, possession, manufacture, sale, and carrying of firearms and ammunition in the Philippines. (
The suspect remains in the custody of the Roxas City Police Station pending proper disposition of the case.
