Businessman Dies After Hitting Fallen Live Wire

BACOLOD CITY – A 38-year-old businessman was tragically electrocuted after hitting a fallen live wire while driving his motorcycle in Barangay 4, Isabela, Negros Occidental, on Thursday night.

The victim was identified as Rodolfo Parparan of Barangay 2, Isabela town.

Police Major Ellendie Rebusquillo, Isabela town police chief, said the victim was returning home from Moises Padilla when the incident occurred at around 10:30 p.m.

Rebusquillo said Parparan was tailing a truck loaded with sugarcane.

He believed the truck’s load may have struck a street post wire in Barangay 5, causing it to fall.

Due to the dimly lit area, the victim may not have noticed the fallen live wire as he passed by.

Residents nearby discovered the victim after hearing a loud noise. Parparan’s motorcycle had fallen on its side.

Parparan was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital, Rebusquillo said.

Authorities are reviewing footage from a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera in the area to help locate and identify the truck involved.
