PHINMA University of Iloilo’s (PHINMA UI) College of Information Technology and Engineering (CITE) is set to improve its curriculum following consecutive meetings with top technology institutions.
The university sent a delegation of faculty members to Manila from May 19 – 22 to exchange knowledge with organizations like De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, University of the East, PLDT, and more.
Led by CITE Dean Seth Nono and Assistant Dean Arnold Fuentes, the delegation visited a total of 12 technology-driven companies and institutions, gaining firsthand insights on cutting-edge developments in cybersecurity, cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), software development, and digital arts.
PHINMA UI CITE also became the first academic institution to visit the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center, where faculty learned about real-world cybersecurity challenges and how to integrate them into the academic environment.
“By engaging with industry leaders, our team gained valuable insights to enhance their practical skills, get inspired, and inspire their students in emerging IT trends,” said Dean Nono.
The initiative is part of CITE’s broader strategy to ensure its programs are aligned with the evolving industry’s demands. By immersing educators in active tech environments, PHINMA UI helps students graduate with relevant, future-ready skills.
Guided by PHINMA Education’s mission of “making lives better through education”, PHINMA UI’s CITE continues to position itself as a hub of innovation where adaptability, openness, and practical learning are combined to prepare students for employment even before they graduate.
