BTAO apprehends 1,937 tricycles, pedicabs

BACOLOD City – The Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) has intercepted a total of 1,937 tricycles, pedicabs, and E-trikes here since March 15 to April 21.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, public information officer of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said that the operators and drivers of the impounded vehicles violated stringent measures of the city government against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

“May ara iban nga gapanginyawat gid bisan indi puwede,” he added.

Pico said the data reflects the apprehension of BTAO in three major public markets here since the city was placed under General Community Quarantine on March 15 and shifted to Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) since March 30 to April 30.

Pico said of the total number of violators, only 214 were give citation tickets, and 63 vehicles were impounded at BTAO inside the BCPO headquarters.

Pico said police and traffic enforcers will continue to guard the streets to maintain the government’s order to strictly require people to stay at home.
