The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and the Securities and Exchange Commission have formalized a new partnership aimed at protecting the retirement savings of Filipino workers.
The two institutions signed a memorandum of agreement on 3 December 2025 to facilitate data sharing and strengthen access to information from the Personal Equity and Retirement Account System, or PERASys.
PERASys serves as the central database of all PERA contributors and is managed by the BSP to ensure that contributors’ savings and corresponding tax incentives are accurately recorded.
The BSP said the database reinforces the protection of every contributor’s hard-earned retirement funds by maintaining a reliable and secure recordkeeping system.
Under the agreement, the BSP and SEC committed to sharing PERA-related data securely and using the information responsibly for the benefit of Filipinos preparing for retirement.
The partnership is expected to enhance coordination between the two agencies in overseeing the PERA framework, which was designed to encourage long-term savings through tax-advantaged investment accounts.
“When you put aside part of your income for your future, you trust us to protect that investment. With this partnership, we are building a system that keeps your information safe and your future more certain. It is one more step toward helping every Filipino retire with dignity and peace of mind,” said BSP Governor Eli M. Remolona, Jr.
The MOA requires full compliance with data privacy laws and establishes strict standards for confidentiality, recordkeeping, and data security within the PERA ecosystem.
The agreement also outlines specific procedures for reporting and managing operational issues, ensuring that both agencies uphold robust safeguards for contributor information.
