The Museo ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) in partnership with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines opened the exhibit “Minting the Revolution, Forging a Nation: Highlights from the BSP Numismatic Collection” on 12 June 2023 at the Museo ni Emilio Aguinaldo in Kawit, Cavite.
The exhibit is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday until 15 August 2023 at the Museo ni Emilio Aguinaldo.
Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin led the opening of the exhibit in Kawit, one of the nationwide activities to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of Philippine Independence and Nationhood (APIN). Also present at the event were Cavite Representatives Jolo B. Revilla III and Crispin Diego Remulla; Kawit Mayor Angelo Emilio G. Aguinaldo , Kawit Vice Mayor Edward R. Samala, Jr.; and BSP Managing Director Antonio G. Lambino II.
The exhibit highlights the role of our currency as a bearer and identifier of the nation’s cultural heritage and underscores the significance of the revolution in our fight for freedom. It makes us proud to be Filipinos.
The exhibit also showcases the 125th APIN commemorative coin set launched with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr last 5 June 2023 in Malacañang. The obverse and reverse sides of the coins contain symbols and historical events leading to the declaration of Philippine independence.
