Two brothers were arrested in a police anti-illegal drug operation shortly before midnight on May 5 in Jaro district, Iloilo City.
The suspects, identified only as alias Enil, 40, and his younger brother, alias Boyboy, 31, were apprehended at their home in Zone 3, Barangay Tacas, Jaro.
Members of the Iloilo City Police Office-City Drug Enforcement Unit arrested the suspects after they allegedly conspired to sell a sachet of suspected shabu for PHP 12,000.
Police said they also seized eight more sachets of suspected shabu from the suspects.
Capt. Roque Gimeno III, ICPO-CDEU chief, said the seized shabu weighed about 70 grams and had a standard drug price of PHP 476,000.
Both suspects have no previous drug-related arrest records.
However, reports said they had been involved in the illegal drug trade for three years.
Police said the brothers allegedly went into full-blown drug peddling after the arrest of their “boss,” identified only as alias Ruben.
Gimeno said Ruben is currently detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility in Barangay Ungka, Jaro, Iloilo City.
Ruben allegedly called Enil while police were conducting the buy-bust operation.
Police said Ruben was asking Enil if the supply had been delivered.
It was not immediately known how Ruben managed to obtain a mobile phone while in detention.
The suspects are now detained and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
