Two brothers are in police custody after allegedly stabbing three men late on July 5 in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.
Alias Ryan, 33, and his younger brother, alias Gil, of Barangay Miraga-Guibuangan, Sta. Barbara, were arrested following the knife attack.
Capt. Raphy Señeres, Sta. Barbara police chief, said Ryan will face charges of murder and frustrated murder, while Gil will be charged with attempted murder.
Señeres said the charges may be filed on Tuesday, July 8.
The incident claimed the life of alias Leo, a 37-year-old barangay tanod, and slightly injured his brother, alias Rom, 40.
Also wounded was alias Dan, a 52-year-old farmer.
All three victims are residents of Barangay Miraga-Guibuangan.
Police said there had been no previous violent incidents involving the suspects and victims.
The brothers were reportedly under the influence of alcohol during the attack.
Señeres said Ryan had an argument with his wife before the stabbing.
He left their home and went to his parents’ house, where he again had a dispute with his father.
Around 10:45 p.m., Ryan walked out and began shouting for a fight.
At that moment, the three victims passed by on their way to buy cigarettes from a nearby store.
Ryan allegedly attacked Rom first, causing a minor injury.
Leo tried to intervene but was also stabbed by Ryan.
Thinking his brother was under attack, Gil stabbed Dan.
Leo sustained a stab wound to the chest and was rushed to the hospital but did not survive.
The two suspects were later arrested and detained.
