Two brothers landed in jail after they attacked and eventually killed their co-worker evening of Aug 25, 2022 in Alimodian, Iloilo.
Alden Durban, 35, and his younger brother, 31-year-old Ardy Durban, both residents of Ajuy, Iloilo were arrested in a hot pursuit operation.
Alden was collared at Nichols Bridge in Alimodian town proper around 11 p.m. Thursday, more than an hour after they allegedly killed Rixie Boy Blance, 36, of Barangay Sambag, Jaro, Iloilo City.
Ardy, on the other hand, was arrested at 10:10 a.m. on Aug 26 in Ajuy town.
The two suspects and the victim were all employed by construction firm Woodland Corporation and were housed at Barangay Bagumbayan-Ilajas, Alimodian.
Staff Sergeant Angelo Amoyan, Alimodian police investigator, said Blance and some of their fellow workers were drinking liquor in their bunks when the suspects arrived.
Blance allegedly admonished the two for the loud sound of their motorcycle’s muffler, which interfered with the movie they were watching.
But instead of turning off the bike’s engine, the suspects even revved it up.
A heated altercation erupted between the three until Alden struck the victim with a shovel.
Arden then stabbed Blance in the chest before they fled.
Blance was rushed to Aleosan District Hospital, in Alimodian town but died while undergoing treatment.
The suspects are now detained and will be charged with murder.
