BPOs agree to hold virtual Christmas party

BACOLOD City- Emergency Operation Center deputy for medical concerns Dr. Cris Sorongon said Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies in the city agreed not to hold the traditional “face to face” Christmas party to help contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 or Covid-19.

The EOC met with BPO representatives, Sorongan said in an interview with Aksyon Radyo here.

Sorongon further said that the BPOs agreed to hold instead virtual Christmas parties to avoid social contact and prevent transmission of the virus.

“We’re happy to inform you nga ang aton BPOs nag forgo sang traditional nga face-to-face Christmas party gatherings. Instead, all of them will be celebrating virtual Christmas Parties,” Sorongon said.

Sorongon also said that the BPO sector is already stabilized in terms of viral infections.

He said that in August and September this year, there was a noted increase in the Covid-19 cases in several BPO companies.

But recently, there has been minimal increase in the Covid-19 cases in the city, especially in the months of November to December.

Sorongan meanwhile appealed to smokers, particularly to BPO agents, to minimize smoking during “breaktime” because it increases the possibility of contracting the virus.

“Smoking is a strong contributory factor nga ma-increase ang imo vulnerability sa Covid-19 infection,” Sorongon said.
