Boy, 9 drowns in river

BACOLOD City – A nine-year-old boy died after he drowned at the Troso river in Barangay Daga, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental last Sunday.
The name of the minor-victim was withheld.
Police Captain Gina Fernandez, deputy chief of Cadiz City Police Station, said the victim went swimming with his sibling. However, he was swept by the strong river current.
His father and a rescuer tried to revive him but he was declared dead in a hospital.
Fernandez said the victim reportedly did not know how to swim.
“Nagkadto siya siguro sa kantilado na part sang suba, amo to nalunod siya,” she added.
