BACOLOD City – A nine-year-old boy drowned in a river at Barangay Estefania here Friday.
Police Lieutenant Rondyl Tapang, head of Police Station 4, withheld the name of the minor-victim.
Tapang said the victim, along with his eight minor-companions took a bath at the Hacienda Lourdes river around 4 p.m.
However, he suffered muscle cramps which caused him to drown, Tapang said.
Tapang said his companions immediately asked assistance from nearby residents but it was too late.
The children usually go there to swim until the incident happened. Tapang advised parents to always supervise their children to prevent the same incident.
