BACOLOD City – An eight-year-old boy died after he drowned in a river at Sitio Bayabas III, Barangay Daga, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental last Saturday.
The name of the minor-victim was withheld.
According to a report from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the victim went to the river with his siblings to play.
He then joined them in swimming. But the river current suddenly became stronger, resulting in his drowning.
His father looked for him, but he was nowhere to be found.
At around 4 p.m., the victim was found unconscious along the river bank.
Rescuers brought him to a hospital but he was declared dead.
