BACOLOD City – A family outing went tragic when a seven-year-old boy died after he drowned in a swimming pool in a resort in Barangay Su-ay, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental on Christmas Day, December 25.
Police withheld the name of the victim, a resident of Kabankalan City.
Police Captain Arturo Margallo, deputy chief of Himamaylan City Police Station, said the victim’s family did not notice that the child went to the deeper adult pool.
His mother looked for the victim a few minutes later, until she saw his red clothes floating in the pool.
His mother called for help until he was taken out of the pool.
The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead, according to Margallo.
Margallo said the resort has a lifeguard, but he was yet to report to duty early that day.
