BACOLOD City – A seven-year-old boy drowned in a river at Barangay Guijulngan, Cauayan, Negros Occidental Tuesday, while his 11-year-old brother survived.
Police withheld the name of the victims, who are residents of Barangay Mambugsay.
Investigation showed that the two victims were asked by their father to bring their carabao to the river to drink water when they decided to swim.
A man who passed by the area saw them drowning and rescued them.
Both victims were rushed to a hospital but the younger victim was declared dead upon arrival.
His older brother was referred to a hospital in Bacolod City.
