BACOLOD CITY – A five-year-old boy has died after drowning in a river at Linaw Bubong, Barangay San Miguel, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, last Saturday.
According to a police investigation, the boy, his siblings, and their father had gone to the riverbank to feed their carabao.
The father temporarily left to urinate, cautioning them not to go into the river. However, the victim’s older siblings decided to swim in the river.
Upon his return, the father found that the victim had drowned after venturing into a deep section of the river.
Residents attempted a rescue, but the boy was pronounced dead on arrival at Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital.
