A Grade 11 student was arrested in a police anti-illegal drug operation on the evening of Oct. 15 in Molo, Iloilo City.
Alias Toto, 16, was apprehended in his rented room in Zone 3, Barangay Compania Central, Molo.
Members of the Iloilo City Police Station 4 seized around 3 kilograms of marijuana from his possession.
Captain Ryan Christ Inot, chief of ICPS4, said the confiscated items included 2.985 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves and 15 grams of high-grade marijuana kush.
The illegal drugs were packed in four self-sealing transparent plastic bags containing suspected dried marijuana leaves with fruit toppings, a self-sealing purple plastic bag containing suspected kush, and two large self-sealing transparent containers with suspected dried marijuana leaves and fruit toppings.
Inot said the suspect was arrested after a two-week surveillance operation.
He allegedly sourced his supply from the province of Iloilo.
Inot added that Toto sold the illegal drugs to other students.
Reports said the suspect left home last year and had been staying at a boarding house in Compania Central.
“He was like a black sheep sa family nila. He does things on his own,” Inot said.
Following his arrest, the suspect’s parents, who live in Barangay South Baluarte, Molo, visited him at the police station.
Toto is currently under the custody of the Iloilo City Social Welfare and Development Office at Balay Dalayunan in La Paz, Iloilo City.
The filing of appropriate charges is underway in accordance with existing laws and protocols governing children in conflict with the law.
