A 14-year-old boy was injured in a stabbing incident early Tuesday morning, December 19, in La Paz, Iloilo City.
Police identified the suspect as alias Fred, a Grade 8 student from Barangay Baldoza, La Paz.
The incident occurred around 5:45 a.m. in Barangay Lopez Jaena Sur, La Paz.
Fred claimed he and his friends were walking home after attending the early morning Misa de Gallo when they were suddenly attacked by a group of male minors.
The victim said the assault happened without any apparent reason or provocation.
Fred identified his assailants as Janjan, 14, of Barangay Don Esteban, Lapuz, Iloilo City, along with aliases Rey, Mark, and Cyrus, all residents of Barangay Sinikway, Lapuz.
According to reports, the suspects chased Fred and his friends, with Janjan stabbing Fred in the upper right back.
The suspects fled the scene immediately after the attack.
Fred was brought to the West Visayas State University Medical Center for treatment.
During a hot pursuit operation, police discovered that all the assailants were below 15 years old.
Authorities coordinated with barangay officials and called in the suspects’ parents.
The minor suspects were turned over to their parents and will undergo an intervention program as mandated by law.
