ROXAS CITY, Capiz—An 11-year-old boy, known locally as ‘Toto,’ died after being trampled by a carabao on Saturday afternoon, May 4, in Barangay San Blas, Pilar, Capiz.
The Pilar Municipal Police Station reported that the victim and his father were riding on the back of their carabao when the animal became agitated and threw them off. The boy was subsequently dragged by a rope that was tied from the carabao’s nose to his waist.
The incident occurred in the backyard of their home while the father watched helplessly.
The boy was rushed to Balasan District Hospital in Pontevedra town but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
An X-ray revealed that severe internal organ damage was the cause of death.
