BACOLOD City – A 10-year-old boy died after he drowned in Ginsang-an river at Kaburihan, Barangay Estefania on Monday night.
Police withheld the name of the minor-victim of Barangay Granada here.
Based on a report of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), the child along with his six companions – cousin and friends – went to the river to swim.
However, several minutes later, the victim was seen by his companions struggling after he went swimming in the deep part of the river.
Some of his companions went home to seek help, but it was too late as the victim already drowned.
The victim’s 40-year-old father reported the incident to the police, and they searched for him.
His body was retrieved by their neighbor, who volunteered to look for him, around 7:20PM.
The victim, according to the police, didn’t know how to swim.
