ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 1-year-old boy was killed in a fire that burned their house Monday evening at Oakwood Subdivision in Barangay Mongpong, Roxas City.
Couple Maricar Bensing, 19, and Patrick Denobo, 20, are in sorrow after their only son Peter perished in the fire that gobbled their house which was made of light materials.
Maricar said she went out of the house to charge her cellphone in a neighboring computer cafe as they have no electricity. Her husband followed her and left the boy who was sleeping in their house.
The fire is believed to have erupted from a candle that Maricar lighted and placed on a plastic cabinet before she went out.
