ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Mayor Roberto “Nonong” Palomar of Tapaz, Capiz has raised the reward for informants who can point to the suspects in the killing of Punong Barangay Julie Catamin, 49, of Roosevelt village.
From P300,000, Palomar said he is offering P500,000 to entice potential witnesses who can help resolve Catamin’s case.
He also condemned the brutal killing of the village chief who was gunned down by riding-in-tandem gunmen at Barangay Malitbog, Calinog around 8:45 a.m. Sunday.
Shortly after announcing the bigger bounty, Palomar administered the oath of Erlinda Geromiano Caro as the new village chief of Roosevelt
Caro replaced Catamin based on the law on succession being the number one barangay kagawad or council member.
“Huwag kang matakot. Gawin mo lang ang tama at ang iyong trabaho,” Palomar told Caro after the oathtaking.
