A bouncer was fatally stabbed while eating at a roadside cafeteria in City Proper, Iloilo City early Saturday morning.
The victim, identified only as alias Delfin, 25, of Barangay San Felix, City Proper, sustained a single stab wound to the abdomen.
Reports said Delfin had just finished work in Mandurriao district and stopped by a pop-up stall serving arroz caldo at around 3:48 a.m. before heading home.
While he was eating, three individuals—two men and a woman—entered the stall.
Captain Michael Tuburan, chief of Iloilo City Police Station 7, said a commotion soon broke out between Delfin and one of the men.
The assailant allegedly threw a bowl of arroz caldo at Delfin before pulling out a knife and stabbing him.
The suspect then fled on a motorcycle.
Delfin managed to run to the Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital located just across the street from the eatery.
He was declared dead shortly after arrival.
Tuburan said the suspect’s two companions stayed at the scene for about two minutes after the stabbing.
They even paid for their arroz caldo and calmly walked away from the area.
Police have yet to identify the suspect.
Tuburan said the stabbing appeared to be a random attack.
Delfin’s family claimed he had no known enemies.
