The Boston Celtics just bagged their most dominant win of the ongoing NBA regular season after demolishing the Washington Wizards by 45 points, 146-101, on Dec. 5, 2025, at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
Fresh off back-to-back thrilling victories over the New York Knicks and the Cleveland Cavaliers with only an average win margin of four points, the Celtics extended their winning streak to three consecutive games following an offensive masterclass against the struggling Washington squad.
After a tightly contested first half, the more experienced Boston team turned the seesaw affair into a one-sided demolition, outscoring the Wizards 80-42 in the final two quarters of the game.
Boston only had a slim seven-point lead after the first 24 minutes of action, 66-59, but an unexpected scoring avalanche spearheaded by Derrick White and Payton Pritchard officially left Washington behind in the first four minutes of the fourth frame.
The duo took turns taking the Washington backcourt to school, utilizing several flare screens that freed them up countless times from downtown.
Unfortunately, Washington’s sloppy defense took a toll on their comeback attempt as they failed to adjust to Boston’s heavy pick-and-pop game that contributed to their downfall at the start of the third quarter.
To make things worse, the Wizards slowed down in the second half after brilliant shooting in the first half, dipping from a total of 59 points to a 42-point outing in the last two periods.
Despite the absence of Jaylen Brown, who was sidelined due to a non-COVID illness, the Celtics showed they still had plenty of firepower as the likes of Anfernee Simons, Jordan Walsh, Hugo Gonzalez, and Josh Minott stepped up to fill the void.
The off-the-bench mob picked up where White and Pritchard left off as they sent a final wave of haymakers to cap off the lopsided dub with a 37-point explosion in the fourth quarter.
White led the Boston artillery with 30 points built from an efficient 12-of-21 shooting from the field, including five three-pointers, alongside nine assists, seven rebounds, and a steal.
Meanwhile, Pritchard got out of a slow first-quarter offensive outing and answered the call midway through the second frame, en route to an all-around performance of 20 markers, eight dimes, and six boards.
Leading the Boston bench was Simons, who stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, three assists, two rebounds, and two steals, while the duo of Gonzalez and Minott added 14 and 11 markers, respectively.
The Celtics will look to protect their winning streak today against the visiting Los Angeles Lakers, who are coming off a nail-biting 123-120 win over the Toronto Raptors.
