BORACAY ISLAND, Aklan — Two restaurant employees were injured after a fire broke out at an Andok’s restaurant on Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan, on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 28, 2026, causing an estimated PHP 2 million in property damage.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Boracay Substation said it received a report that Andok’s Station 3, located in Sitio Ambulong, Barangay Manoc-Manoc, was on fire around 2:50 p.m.
Fire Officer 2 Mariafe Señeris, BFP Boracay Substation public information officer, said firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control.
The BFP declared the fire extinguished at 3:05 p.m., about 15 minutes after the incident was reported.
Authorities said the affected area measured approximately 50 square meters, with initial property damage estimated at PHP 2 million.
Señeris said the damage estimate could still increase once the restaurant management submits a report detailing its losses.
She added that the fire may have originated in the restaurant’s kitchen area.
However, Señeris emphasized that an investigation was still underway to determine the exact cause of the blaze.
She declined to confirm reports that the incident may have involved a flash fire or an explosion caused by a gas leak.
Meanwhile, two restaurant employees were reported injured in the incident but were said to be in stable condition.
The BFP has yet to release its final findings on the cause of the fire and the total extent of the damage.
