Police said they have already identified the body of a young boy that was found along the shoreline of a resort in Sibunag, Guimaras, on Nov. 7.
A certain Arvie, a resident of Barangay Inolingan, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, told police that the body was that of his 2-year-old son Arje.
Arvie reached out to the Sibunag Municipal Police Station on Thursday, Nov. 13.
He narrated that he was with his son when floodwaters began to build up at the height of Typhoon Tino.
Carrying his son, he went out of the house to purposely leave.
But he accidentally lost hold of the boy as he was making his way to safety.
As it turned out, the boy’s body ended up along the shoreline of Costa Aguada Resort, located on the eastern portion of Barangay Inampulugan Island in Sibunag town, on Nov. 7.
For several days, no one had inquired about the boy’s identity except for a family in Bago City, Negros Occidental, who lost their baby girl during Typhoon Tino.
Master Sergeant Bryan Galvez, the investigator-on-case, decided to seek assistance from the office of Rep. Emilio Bernardino “Dino” Yulo of the 5th District of Negros Occidental.
Yulo subsequently posted on his official Facebook account about the body of a boy found in Guimaras.
While checking the comments section, Galvez saw a message from Claudine Mae Eramis Lagrana claiming that Arvie had recognized the boy as his son.
The remains were transported to Negros Occidental on Friday morning.
