A security guard was arrested following a firearm raid on his house in Leganes, Iloilo on January 26, 2021.
Police identified the suspect as Lloyd Katipunan, 35, a resident of Barangay Gua-an, Leganes.
Members of Leganes Police Station barged into Katipunan’s house to implement Search Warrant No. 0032-2021 issued by Judge Arturo Doronila of the 9th Municipal Circuit Trial Court on January 22, 2021.
The team seized a homemade caliber .45 pistol (marked STI RANGER II SN353167); three magazine assemblies and 15 cartridges of caliber .44 ammunition; a box containing 20 ammunition for 5.56mm rifle; an inside holster; and a pouch for magazine assembly.
According to Major Roy Tayona, they received complaints that Katipunan had been illegally discharging his firearm when he was drunk. He claimed to be an asset for an AFP unit.
But Tayona said their verification belied Katipunan’s claim.
The suspect is now detained and will face a case for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
