The PBA never fails to surprise.
After the shocking CJ Perez trade from Terrafirma Dyip to San Miguel Beermen, another team dealt its star player in a one-on-one trade.
Moments after PBA’s official grant of the Perez trade, Blackwater Elite shipped Mac Belo to the Meralco Bolts.
Traded for Belo was Meralco’s point guard Baser Amer who had helped the Bolts to two PBA finals appearances.
During the PBA bubble edition, Belo was criticized for his inconsistent scoring while Amer also received lashes after going into the bubble slightly out of shape due to his weight increase.
The trade proposal and the needed papers have already been submitted to the PBA office and are now up for the approval of commissioner Willie Marcial and the rest of the PBA board.
Blackwater management has kept mum on the reason behind the big trade – and so has the Meralco management.
So far, there were no trade deals included in their agreement except for a one-on-one package that will still be evaluated by the PBA board.
