The Blackwater Bossing’s dream start in the ongoing PBA Philippine Cup is still on full display after keeping its undefeated record with a third straight win over the Converge FiberXers, 90-78, on March 6, 2024, at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
Blackwater picked up where they left off coming from huge wins over the TNT Tropang Giga and the Meralco Bolts, outscoring the FiberXers while dominating the opposition in all facets of the game.
It was a walk in the park for the Bossing franchise after kicking off the first half with guns blazing as they wrapped up the first quarter with a commanding 16-point advantage.
Despite the defensive adjustments deployed by head coach Aldin Ayo to his Converge wards, Blackwater still extended its waxing hot shooting and established the biggest lead of the game at 35 points.
Heading into the third quarter, Converge already lost steam and was in huge trouble trimming their 35-point deficit.
With cold shooting and miscommunication hounding their chances of a comeback, the FiberXers already waived the white flag early in the final frame and could only watch Blackwater protect their double-digit lead until the final buzzer.
It was a balanced offensive effort for the Bossing as five of their players all reached the double-digit scoring mark.
Blackwater was top-scored by stretch center Christian David who dropped 16 points, five rebounds, a block, and one steal, backstopped by combo guard Rey Suerte who added 14 markers derived from 5/9 shooting from the field.
RK Ilagan also stepped up for the Bossing after chipping in 12 points with only two misses from the field while Richard Escoto produced the same amount of points including two rebounds and a dime.
Blackwater will aim for its best start in five years on March 13, 2024, as they challenge Robert Bolick and the NLEX Road Warriors.
