BACOLOD City – The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Western Visayas is offering P25,000 cash reward for those who can help recapture an escapee from BJMP-Escalante City, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.
Superintendent Larry Fuentes, provincial administrator of BJMP-Negros Occidental said yesterday that manhunt operation is ongoing to recapture Perlito Sico.
Fuentes said Sico scaled the prison wall and jumped off the “combat wire” fence of the jail facility past 7 p.m.
Fuentes said Inspector Eduardo Beñares, jail warden informed him of the incident.
Fuentes said three jail officers were on duty at that time.
They were able to fire a warning shot but Sico still managed to escape, he added.
The regional bureau is currently probing the incident to determine if there were security lapses at the jail, he said.
Beñares will also be investigated, along with the three jail officers.
