Bizman shot dead

BACOLOD City – A miller was shot to death by his client at Barangay Dulao, Bago City, Negros Occidental on June 10, 2019.

Police identified the fatality as Reniel Ramos, 35, of Barangay Calumangan.

Police Captain Reynaldo Severino, deputy city police chief, said Ramos, along with his four companions, went to the suspect identified as Marjune Suyo, 30, of Barangay Busay.

Ramos was to meet Suyo after the latter sent a text message asking the victim to fetch rice stocks as payment for his (Suyo) remaining debt.

But when the victim arrived, the suspect allegedly shot him in the head.

“He (Ramos) was shot at close range,” Severino said.

Suyo also attempted to shoot the victim’s companions but the gun jammed.

Severino said he also allegedly took the victim’s wallet and cellular phone before escaping on board a motorcycle.

The victim succumbed to a lone gunshot wound on his head.

Police recovered from the scene a fired cartridge and two live ammunitions for a .45-caliber gun.

Prior to the incident, Severino said Suyo wanted to borrow money from Ramos but the latter declined.

The victim instead told Suyo that the latter should first pay his remaining debt with his newly harvested rice before lending him money again.

“It probably triggered him (Suyo) to commit the crime, because he was not allowed to borrow money the moment he asked for it from the victim,” Severino said.

Severino said Suyo surfaced at the police station at 2:20 a.m. the following day to clear his name.

But he was positively identified by one of the victim’s companions.

Suyo, who is detained at the police station, denied the allegations against him, Severino said.

Severino said the suspect did not go home two days prior to the incident.

“He probably planned the killing as he even deceived the victim to meet him,” the deputy police chief added.

Suyo will be charged for robbery with homicide.
