Dmitry Bivol is still the unified king of boxing’s light-heavyweight division after bagging a lopsided unanimous decision win over Michael Eifert on May 31, 2026, at UMMC Arena in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
Despite a 15-month layoff, the reigning International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Association light-heavyweight champion pulled off another masterclass as he sent Eifert to school with his clinical display of jab usage, distance control, and calculated aggression.
Fresh off regaining his titles in that massive rematch win over Artur Beterbiev last year, Bivol showed up loose and shut down any ring rust issues.
Bivol quickly imposed his will after scoring an early knockdown at the 1:24 mark of the first round, catching Eifert off guard with a snappy left hook to grab a decisive 10-8 edge on all the ringside judges’ scorecards.
After fighting on the front foot with pressure, Eifert immediately laid back in the following round after feeling Bivol’s power.
However, that move boosted Bivol’s confidence even more as the Russian pug began to dictate the tempo of the fight midway through the second round.
From his flush left hooks to his blinding jabs, Bivol’s offensive arsenal was on full display and didn’t give Eifert any room to breathe or operate.
Bivol inflicted more damage in the later rounds and capitalized on Eifert’s stagnant effort to go toe-to-toe with the reigning champion in the middle of the ring.
Without anything going for the German challenger, Bivol made everything look easy and overwhelmed Eifert with a barrage of straight right punches, followed by a streak of jabs that landed at will.
After getting stomped in the first nine rounds, Eifert finally showed some tactical adjustment when he forced Bivol to fight on the inside, but the defending champion didn’t give up his range and stuck with efficient boxing by throwing more jabs.
Although Eifert flaunted his durability by not letting Bivol score another knockdown, his lack of offense in the final three rounds allowed the latter to walk home with a convincing win in his comeback after 15 months.
All three judges scored the bout in favor of Bivol, 118-107, 118-107, 118-107, in yet another surgical performance in front of his home fans.
With the win, Bivol improved to 25 wins, 12 knockouts, and one loss, while Eifert slipped to 13 wins, five knockouts, and two losses.
