Bisera leads LPGT bid for Kenda Tire Open crown

MANILA — Yvon Bisera carries both confidence and a renewed hunger for victory as she leads a Ladies Philippine Golf Tour contingent against a strong international field in the Kenda Tire Open on Sept. 23-25 at Taichung International Country Club in Taiwan.

The Davaoeña ace, a two-leg winner on the LPGT this year, heads the Philippine charge brimming with confidence despite narrowly missing a third victory at the Summit Point Championship last week.

Her recent run, highlighted by two wins and a stirring comeback, has sharpened her belief that she can contend once again — this time on foreign soil.

Bisera said the steady improvement in her long game has given her added confidence heading into the three-day championship.

“My long game has become more consistent, and my irons were particularly good at the Summit Point Championship.”

“I hit all the greens in the second day and 16 of 18 in the final round.”

“That gives me confidence playing internationally because I know I just need to focus on my putting,” said Bisera in Filipino.

She now looks forward to testing how her game holds up on an unfamiliar course against some of the region’s best players.

“I’m excited to see how my game adapts to a different kind of course and how I perform against a strong international field.”

“It’s a great opportunity to challenge myself, see where I stand and measure my game against some of the best players in the region,” she added.

The Kenda Tire Open marks another co-sanctioned event between the LPGT and Taiwan LPGA Tour, continuing a partnership forged in 2015.

The two circuits staged their first co-sanctioned tournament in Taiwan in 2018, the Party Golfers Ladies Open in Miaoli County.

Backing Bisera is a deep LPGT cast that includes proven winners Princess Superal, Mafy Singson, Sarah Ababa, Ji-won Lee, Harmie Constantino and Chihiro Ikeda, giving the Philippines a formidable mix of experience and firepower.

Also joining the Philippine charge are Kayla Nocum, Marvi Monsalve, Rev Alcantara, Monica Mandario, Lois Kaye Go and Velinda Castil.

Amateurs Lisa and Mona Sarines and Isabelle Tabanas, all members of the ICTSI stable, are also part of the contingent and will use the tournament as valuable preparation for their upcoming international campaigns.

Bisera is determined to keep the Philippines firmly in the title hunt, having already shown that she can win on foreign soil.

She won the Thailand Ladies Masters last year and finished runner-up in the Singapore Ladies Masters in June.

Her record in Taiwan has been less imposing, with tied-27th finishes in the Party Golfers Ladies Open in 2024 and 2025.

She also endured a difficult outing in the Philippine Ladies Masters at Summit Point last February, another LPGT-TLPGA co-sanctioned event, where she finished 47th.

But her fortunes have changed dramatically since then, and she arrives in Taiwan with a sharper game and greater belief.

Bisera survived a three-way playoff to win the Lakewood Championship before stamping her class at the Pradera Verde stop.

At Summit Point, she erased a six-shot deficit with just nine holes remaining and came within one stroke of forcing a playoff with eventual champion Chanelle Avaricio.

Those performances have only strengthened her resolve to turn her improved form into more consistent international results.

“For me, a successful tournament is one where I can see myself improving from one tournament to the next and where the work I put into practice starts to produce results.”

“I want to become more consistent, post better finishes and build even more confidence for future international tournaments — not just in Asia, but wherever I compete,” said Bisera.
