BIR moves VAT, percentage tax deadline to October 29
By Francis Allan L. Angelo
MANILA — The Bureau of Internal Revenue extended the Oct. 26 deadline to Oct. 29, 2026, for affected electronic filers to submit quarterly value-added tax and percentage tax returns, pay the corresponding taxes, and file required attachments.
The three-day extension gives affected taxpayers time to comply without penalties caused by a government filing system outage.
Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 115-2026 covers BIR Form No. 2550Q, or the Quarterly Value-Added Tax Return, and BIR Form No. 2551Q, or the Quarterly Percentage Tax Return.
The circular, signed by BIR Commissioner Charlito Martin R. Mendoza, also extends the submission of required attachments.
The BIR said it moved the deadline because the Electronic Filing and Payment System, or eFPS, was unavailable.
Filings and payments completed by Oct. 29 will not incur penalties, the agency said.
The eFPS is the BIR’s online facility for taxpayers enrolled to file returns and settle taxes electronically.
The BIR’s eFPS guidance says taxpayers are not charged a late-filing penalty when the system is unavailable during a deadline and the disruption is announced through a revenue circular or advisory.
For covered taxpayers, Oct. 29 is now the deadline.
