The Beverage Industry Association of the Philippines is marking its 38th year as a collective platform for the country’s beverage manufacturers, reaffirming its role in helping the sector respond to changing regulations, sustainability demands, and shifting consumer preferences.
For nearly four decades, BIAP has brought together leading beverage companies to coordinate on shared industry concerns and promote responsible growth.
The association said collaboration has become more important as the beverage sector navigates issues that affect manufacturing, consumers, communities, and government policy.
The Philippine beverage industry covers a wide range of products, including bottled water, fruit juices, soft drinks, and energy beverages.
Beyond its presence in stores and households, the sector contributes to manufacturing activity, employment, and the broader economy.
BIAP was established and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on April 28, 1988.
The association was created to unite companies across the diverse beverage landscape and provide a platform for collaboration, alignment, and engagement on issues affecting business and society.
BIAP said industry-wide challenges cannot be effectively addressed by one company alone.
The group helps bridge this gap by enabling dialogue among members and building consensus on key issues.
This allows the beverage industry to work more constructively with government agencies and other stakeholders.
It also helps the sector contribute to policies that are balanced, practical, and responsive to broader economic needs.
BIAP also promotes quality, safety, and integrity across the industry.
The association supports good manufacturing practices, voluntary standards, and a shared code of ethics to help ensure products meet expectations for quality and safety.
These efforts have strengthened alignment on responsible practices, including product quality, safety, and operational standards that support long-term sustainability.
BIAP said these initiatives contribute to a more consistent and reliable beverage landscape for consumers.
Over the years, the association has also strengthened coordination on policy and regulatory developments affecting the sector.
As a dialogue platform between manufacturers and the government, BIAP helps ensure that industry perspectives are considered in discussions on taxation, product standards, and broader manufacturing policies.
The association also supports knowledge sharing through seminars, workshops, and technical exchanges.
It also shares relevant information to keep members and the public informed about industry developments.
BIAP’s membership includes ARC Refreshments Corp., Asia Brewery Inc., Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines, Coca-Cola Philippines, Del Monte Philippines, PepsiCo Inc., Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines Inc., Mondelez Philippines, Nestlé Philippines, San Miguel Corp., Universal Robina Corp., Vouno Trade & Marketing Services, and Philippine Spring Water Resources Inc.
Together, these companies represent a broad cross-section of the beverage landscape, combining global expertise with strong local roots.
The association is led by President Atty. Juan Lorenzo Tañada.
Tañada also serves as head of public affairs and communications for Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines.
Under his leadership, BIAP continues to function as a platform for industry coordination and engagement with key stakeholders and communities.
As the beverage industry evolves, BIAP said it remains focused on helping members respond to change responsibly.
The association said this means strengthening partnerships, supporting innovation, and providing a platform where the industry can move forward together for consumers.
After 38 years, BIAP said its role remains to represent the beverage sector and help shape how it grows responsibly, collaboratively, and in step with national priorities.
