BFP-Negros readies 10 nurses for hospital augmentation

BACOLOD City – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Negros Occidental is prepared to send 10 firefighter-nurses to any local government unit (LGU) in the country that needs hospital augmentation amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

According to Chief Inspector Kim Celisio, provincial fire marshal, they will have to wait for the order from the regional office regarding the deployment of these nurses.

“On standby naman sila in kaso i-deploy sila,” Celisio said, adding that their names were already provided to the regional office.

For now, BFP nurses in Panay can cover up the need for additional nurses in hospitals there, he said.

In case the 10 nurses will be sent for augmentation, Celisio said it is up for the regional office to decide if there’s a need for back-up.

“Indi ta man ma sacrifice ang local kay basi mawad-an man ta diri nurses, that’s why nag create lang ta augmentation team,” he said.

Meanwhile, Celisio said the BFP in the province has no active COVID-19 cases, as of August 26.
