BACOLOD City – The best local government pavilion and festival dance will be among the highly contested events in the upcoming Panaad sa Negros festival slated on April 17-23, 2023 at the Panaad Park and Stadium.
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said the provincial government has released P300,000 as subsidy to each of the cities and municipalities in the province for the festival.
The subsidy will help local government units (LGUs) spruce up their respective pavilions.
“I guess what is really important in the festival are the pavilions of each LGU and I think they are taking care of it,” the governor said.
He added that “I think that is where our strength is, the LGUs, they will find ways to sponsor entertainment in their respective areas because they will also be encouraging their constituents to come to Bacolod and join us in Panaad.”
Lacson said that everything is ready for the first in-person holding of the Panaad festival after a 3-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The provincial government has allocated P25 million for the 5-day festivities excluding the P300,000 subsidy to each of the 12 cities and 19 municipalities.
Aside from the best pavilion, the LGUs will also be competing for the best festival dance.
