Benitez Warns Government Workers Against Violations

BACOLOD CITY — “It’s never-ending, but we will be relentless.”

Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez issued another warning to government employees committing violations, stating that the city will not hesitate to take action against them.

This comes after a government employee assigned to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) was placed under investigation for allegedly using gasoline meant for DRRMO vehicles for personal use.

The City Legal Office has issued a show-cause order against the employee and is awaiting a counter-affidavit.

Despite the ongoing investigation, the employee remains assigned to the DRRMO.

Last month, two regular employees from the City Environment and Natural Resources Office and the City Treasurer’s Office were also investigated after being accused of accepting payments from business owners without completing the required tasks for business permit processing in December.

Benitez stressed that seemingly minor violations can escalate if left unchecked.

“What may appear insignificant can eventually grow into a bigger issue, starting from just one small action,” he said.

“For those who keep violating the rules, don’t wait until you’re caught,” the mayor warned.
