BACOLOD CITY – The City Drug Enforcement Unit arrested two repeat drug offenders in separate buy-bust operations on Friday and Saturday, seizing a total of PHP1.97 million worth of suspected shabu.
CDEU operatives first apprehended alias “Zen,” 31, a resident of Iloilo City temporarily staying in Barangay 30, who allegedly yielded 115 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP782,000 on June 20.
Police Lt. Richard Legada, assistant CDEU chief, said Zen had previous drug arrests in Iloilo in 2016 and 2020 and also faced six robbery charges.
He added that Zen fled Iloilo and allegedly resumed his illegal activities in Bacolod.
Authorities are verifying if the suspect is involved in other crimes.
On June 21, alias “Borg,” 44, was arrested in Barangay Handumanan following the confiscation of 175 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP1.19 million.
Legada said Borg was on the barangay drug watchlist and had been arrested for a similar offense in February 2021.
He was released in February this year and was on probation when he was caught again.
Legada noted that Borg may have built contacts while in jail, enabling him to distribute large volumes of illegal drugs after release.
He said reports of Borg’s continued drug dealings prompted surveillance and eventually the buy-bust operation.
Both suspects are classified by the CDEU as high-value individuals.
